I went to school at Cumberland Institute of Holistic Health in Brentwood Tennessee.
In school, and after as continuing education, I have studied; Swedish Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral Therapy, Acupressure, Cupping, Abdominal Work, Reflexology, Hot Stone, and Myo-fascial work. This list actually needs to be added to now. Honestly, I might have a continuing education problem. I love to learn and when I see a class that I feel would benefit my clients, I take it. Recently, I have taken classes for Sarga Bodywork, which is a barefoot myofascial modality. I have also taken classes for trauma-informed care, and bodywork for anxiety and depression. I believe that massage has the possibility to not only help us with pain, but to help us connect deeper to ourselves.
It amazes me every day the pain I see people living with and still going on about their daily lives. I know this takes a toll on people. It changes the way we interact with each other. When we can free ourselves from even a bit of that pain, we can change the world. That is why I love my job. Even when people come in with no apparent stress or tensions going on, I am mindful that physical pain is not the only reason to seek out massage. It also calms the mind and gives you a fresh outlook on life. I have had massage help with depression, anxiety and insomnia. It isn't always about the physical knots in our body, there are emotional knots also.
I used to have a section that talked about my spare time. I don't really have that now:) I have gone back to college. While running my practice, I have also been going to school full time. I just have a little bit longer before I graduate with my bachelors in psychology. My plan after is for my masters in counseling. I still plan on providing bodywork throughout my college adventure. Just understand that I do not have a full time practice at this time.
My partner and I have lived here in Corvallis with our three kids for a while now. We absolutely love it here. We love being able to go to the beach, or head out hiking. To us, Corvallis is home and is a wonderful place to live.
